If one of the springs had one leg instead of being wound (coiled), it would have had the same impact because the mass of the weight does not affect it, and it extends the distance of the weight from the rope where the first spring holds it.

go from springs in series to springs in parallel, so effective spring constant goes from k/2 to 2k, (you're effectively cutting the spring in half which halves the spring distance, then having the second half work on pulling it up too) the weight would rise
